A competition entry for Smart Pedestrian Hub for city of Jakarta in conjunction with the current planning by Institute for Transportation &#38; Development Policy and city of Jakarta to integrate pedestrian and bicycle lanes in the city as one of the city’s planned efforts to reduce carbon emissions.

Rejuvenation Capsules are added into the equation to improve the quality of a Smart Transit Hub in addition to Transjakarta Busway, Bike Lane and Pedestrian Way with 4 main strategies:
1.	CLEANSE – to clean the city by providing green capsules, bike shelter capsules, water filter capsules and recycle center capsules.
2.	OPTIMIZE – modular design that can accommodate different program facilities which can be mix and match based on the different needs on different locations while being placed on abandoned spaces throughout the city.
3.	RESTORE – to restore the social and cultural value by promoting local food and drink stalls by providing a safe and organized space for the local street food sellers “Pedagang Kaki Lima” which have been evicted in a lot of areas, while providing clean water facility for them.
4.	GENTLE – compact capsules are designed with minimal footprint, prefabricated with modular systems which allow for quick on site installation, reduce the impact to the surrounding traffic, reduce pollution to the environment and easy to be phased for continued growth.

SCI_ARC Spring 2003

Initial surface explorations lead to the current repetitive pattern. Being interested in the various transparency qualities of the skin, given the displacement of material when cast into a mold, forming interesting possibilities as a panel system. During the casting process, we explored the properties of both solid and semi-solid materials and the integration of one upon the other. As added affect, to strengthen the lines of the pattern, fiber optic wire was casted into the system. Used either singularly or repetitive, the pattern has the strength of becoming a sculptural piece on its own, or part of a larger geometrical accentuation.

Exhibited at Bank Gallery, Los Angeles in April 2003</description>
